FCEF takes Citizen’s Bank Park

On September 17th, 2011 the Fran Crippen Elevation Foundation took over Citizen’s Bank Park to watch the Phillies dominate the St. Louis Cardinals and clinch their 5th consecutive NL Division Title! While the Phillies played a superior game, the highlight of the night was definitely Maddy Crippen taking the mound to toss out the ceremonial first pitch! Despite having retired from baseball/softball after the 1994 Region 21 CYO season she still was able to summon up all the strength inside her to fire a Roy Halladay-esque strike to former UVA, now Phillies player Michael Schwimer.

Prior to the pitch from Maddy the FCEF team was out tailgating on a perfect fall day. We sold almost 100 shirts and raised about $1000 for FCEF programs! Food and drinks were brought in potluck style from the UVA, Conshohocken, and GA communities. A BIG thanks to Frank Sylvester and the team at Snapple for the drinks made from the Best Stuff on Earth! The Fran Crippen Elevation Foundation would also like to thank Jamie Wybar, Chris Long, David Montgomery and Richard Deats, without whom this night would not be possible.

Watch the Phillies honor Fran and Maddy toss out the first pitch below!
