JMU Men’s Swimming Alumni Support Teammate & FCEF!
Last week we received a touching email from one of Fran’s best friends, Geoff Meyer. Geoff grew up swimming with Fran at the Germantown Academy Aquatic Club and later went on to star on the JMU Men’s Swimming Team. He wis a 5x Conference Champion and holder of (2) JMU records. As every team athlete appreciates and understands, there is a deep level of camaraderie that goes into working together to achieve a goal. Despite Geoff graduating in 2004 the bonds of brotherhood have stayed strong. Unbeknownst to Geoff, ever since hearing of the tragic loss of our beloved Fran the Boys of Madison were gathering behind the scenes to support Geoff in his loss while also respectfully paying tribute to a swimmer whom they appreciated as well.
Geoff sent us this email from his teammates & brothers:

During our time at JMU, we learned the importance and the power of brotherhood. We learned how to put our brothers before ourselves, and learned to take a special pride in the actions that resulted from that strong bond – Duke Dog Pride.
While we have all gone in separate directions since college, that bond and that pride are as strong as ever. When one of us succeeds, we all succeed. When one of us hurts, we all hurt. We know that you’ve been hurting since you lost Fran, but we also know that you’ve used that hurt to do good for others, and make a difference in other people’s lives through the Fran Crippen Elevation Foundation. A brother of yours is a brother of ours. So, on Christmas, we are here to help you in those efforts. The Boys of Madison have pooled together what we could this holiday season, and will make a $750 donation to the Fran Crippen Elevation Foundation. We hope that this donation helps you and all those affiliated with the Foundation to continue your efforts in honoring Fran and his legacy.
